Jordan Love Makes A Huge Statement On His Contract Situation

Jordan Love knows that he is owed a contract extension from the Green Bay Packers. Love also knows that the game of football is no joke. An injury can happen at any moment in time. The solution? Jordan Love showed up to camp, but he will not be on the field until he gets his payday.

Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst told reporters on Monday that Love does not plan to practice until the former first-round pick has a new contract in place. Gutekunst said Love’s camp informed the Packers of the decision on Saturday.

The encouraging part for both sides, Gutekunst says the two sides are 'close' to agreeing on a deal. Packers fans can breathe now, it's likely going to be a soft holdout, nothing to worry about long term.

The Packers drafted Love 26th overall in 2020, and he served as a backup to Aaron Rodgers for his first three seasons. It wasn’t until last season that Love got his opportunity to start. He put together an eye-opening season by passing for 4,159 yards, 32 touchdowns and just 11 interceptions while leading the Packers to a 9-8 record.

Love is only 25-years-old, so the Packers really might have gone from Brett Favre, to Aaron Rodgers, to Jordan Love... That would be so impressive if they nailed it three straight generations.
