Today In Sports History: December 13th: Woodson Wins The Heisman

Today in sports history December 13th, 1997, Michigan’s Charles Woodson beats out Peyton Manning to win the Heisman trophy. Woodson became the first ever two-way player and first primarily defensive player to ever win the Heisman trophy.

Pretty remarkable for a defensive player to win the Heisman trophy. The amount of impact you need to do to win is hard as can be and for a primarily defensive player to win is just one of the most impressive and not talked about enough accomplishments in sports.
