Week 11 Red Zone Winners And Losers

Every week we embark on the RedZone channel. There are some things I love about the Red Zone and some things I hate. For one, I love that we get to see all the important plays, all the important moments and of course scoring touchdowns. However, one of the problems with Red Zone is you see the highs and lows only. You aren’t seeing the play by play of the game. The 2nd and 3 from the 27 yard line. But, unless you can invest in 7 TVs and a DIRECTV package, the reality is this is how fans watch football now. Week 11 gave us what I believe was the saddest moment of the year, when Joe Burrow got badly hurt and self announced he would be out for the year. Here is week 11’s Red Zone Channel winners and losers and this week there are a lot more losers than winners.

Losers

Joe Burrow-

Tough scene for the young rookie who was on pace to break the rookie record for yards and touchdowns. He’s been fantastic. However, this is what happens when you do not provide a young rookie like Burrow a good offensive line. He’s been under attack all year, and finally he broke.

Carson Wentz-

I am done. I can no longer support Carson Wentz this season. Something is wrong. He’s wildly talented but he has not and will never throw away a ball. He makes horrible decisions. For every “OMG how did he make that throw” there are two “WTF are you doing Carson”. The reality is he’s the highest paid player in Eagles history and he’s going to continue getting chances. And somehow, the Eagles are still in 1st place in the NFC East.

Lamar Jackson-

Lamar Jackson had a chance to win the game. Lamar Jackson couldn’t get it done. Look, Lamar didn’t play especially bad today, but this is where his team needed him the most and he couldn’t get the job done. The numbers were not spectacular, and he looked average at best. The Ravens sit behind the Browns after 11 in the AFC North.

The Dolphins

Not only did Tua appear to get hurt or benched. But their winning streak ends and their playoff hopes could be dwindling.

The Vikings

Losing to the Cowboys with Andy Dalton is bad enough. Blowing your chance to go .500 and reenter the playoff race is even worse.

Winners

Sean Payton and Taysom Hill-

I still would like to see Jameis play but that’s because I like Jameis. But Sean Payton took a gamble and it seemed to pay off. Hill definitely looked Tim-Tebowish at times but over 200 yards passing, no interceptions (one was dropped), and two rushing touchdowns. Payton gambled, and he hit blackjack.

Cleveland Brown Fans-

The Cleveland Browns have not made the playoffs since 2002. And have not had a winning record since 2007. Baker Mayfield was average again but that’s all he had to be. The defense is sick. The run game is elite. And the Browns sit at 7-3 and appear to be well on their way to making the playoffs for the first time in nearly 20 years. Brown fans rejoice.

The Vikings-

Yes. It wasn’t pretty but a winning streak has the Vikings sitting at 5-5.
