6 New England Patriots Opt Out Of Season Due To COVID-19 Concerns

On Tuesday morning, 6 New England Patriot players decided to opt out of the upcoming NFL season including Dont’a Hightower, Patrick Chung, Marcus Cannon and more.

The Patriots have had the most NFL players opt out of the season thus far among COVID-19 concerns. This has sparked social media and NFL executives to believe that is all some sort of master plan for Bill Belichick to tank the season and get the number 1 overall pick,

I don’t see it. I know social media is going crazy today thinking that Bill Belichick somehow is throwing the season to get the number 1 pick to take Clemson’s quarterback Trevor Lawerence who is regarded as one of the best QB prospects to come into the draft in history. But this makes no sense. If Bill Belichick really wanted to tank the season, he would have not gone out and sign former NFL MVP Cam Newton to take over for a departed Tom Brady. As the season approaches I believe we will see more players beginning to opt out of the season and it’s going to be hard to imagine watching football in the coronavirus era with the amount of physical interaction required to play the sport.
