On this date in sports history June 18th, 1977 The New York Yankees imploded in front of a national TV audience as Billy Martin and Reggie Jackson got into a heated exchange and had to be separated in the dugout. Because Reggie Jackson didn’t really hustle on a what should have been a single and it helped the Red Sox turn it into a double.

You rarely see this in baseball. A manager subs out a player and they get in a heated exchange in a the dugout?! And man Billy Martin was a fiery manager, Reggie Jackson was a fiery player and at the end they of course salvaged the season. The Yankees ended up winning the World Series later that season. Oh and let’s not forget Reggie Jackson was nasty.
