Looks like barring anything crazy happening Zion Williamson will begin his career with The New Orleans Pelicans. And as of today Anthony Davis is also on the New Orleans Pelicans. During his time at Duke, Zion made a point to try to sign ever kid’s autograph and credited it to once being snubbed by who else? Anthony Davis. Quoting Zion:
“When I was little, I looked up to high school players, and I would want their autograph. And sometimes I couldn’t get it, and I’d just be hurt. I said when I grew up, I don’t want to be like that. I want to be able to sign every kid’s autograph — no matter how long it takes me …
“I try to sign every kid’s autograph because I don’t want to turn a little kid down because I know it’ll hurt them. It hurt me. Anthony Davis, John Wall turned me down, so I try to sign everybody’s.”
“John Wall, Jaylen Brown, Stanley Johnson, Anthony Davis, I’d always dream of meeting them and see them play in high school but never got that chance,” Williamson says in the film. “I always told myself, if I work hard enough, maybe I can be in that kind of spotlight.”
The quotes were on the video below:
Even though the Pelicans secured the number 1 overall pick and will have an opportunity to add Zion who is a once in a generation talent, Anthony Davis has reportedly not changed his mind about wanting to be traded. Maybe Zion can pick up a autograph on the way out the door. Oh, we also have released some New Orlean’s Zion Shirts.
