Breaking: New Orleans Pelicans Fire GM Dell Demps After Crazy Trade Deadline

After a wild trade deadline for the New Orleans Pelicans, they have decided to part ways with general manager Dell Demps, per Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN. Many reports indicated that frustrating with the direction of the organization along with the Anthony Davis situation caused the firing.

The organization is discussing internal candidates for interim job, including David Booth and former Atlanta Hawks GM Danny Ferry. The Pelicans plan to be aggressive in the marketplace to hire a high-level basketball executive.

Turns out that ownership was livid on Thursday night when Anthony Davis injured his shoulder and decided to leave the stadium with his agent Rich Paul. Of course, Rich Paul and the Pelicans aren’t on the greatest terms themselves after trying to push a trade to the Los Angeles Lakers so Davis could join LeBron James.

Rich Paul is a childhood friend of LeBron so many believe there is serious counts of tampering happening and Rich Paul did end up being fined by the NBA for the open trade requests for his client.

Despite all this tension, Alvin Gentry and the rest of the coaching staff is staying put and the organization is pleased with their work.
